Three Pup Corn trick or treaters find quite their scare in this animated Halloween ad for Pup Corn Plus dog treats.

Originally, I developed this ad to utilize stop motion. When our social media manager fell in love with the 2D look, we pivoted the art style. This change presented a challenge because I hadn't traditionally animated anything at this scale before. It was an incredible experience tackling every step of the process from the initial storyboards to the final compositing. I even voiced the Pup Corns and the ghost.
What was originally intended to be a one off post expanded into a social media and streaming campaign. We've reposted it for Halloween every year since.
The video above shows each step of the animation process. First, I started with the rough, sketchy animation work. Once I got the animation down, then I cleaned up the line work as I inked the drawings. Finally, I added color to the inked drawings and the background. As i completed each step, the ghost (ironically) felt like it was coming to life.
